Wow! Who Knew?

Wow! Who Knew?

Self Propelled Kids Camp kicked off it’s first week with HUGE success!!! Thank you to all those who made this possible!

I really had to step outside the box this time. I’ve never been a teacher or run any type of camp before and let me tell you I was anxious! The night before camp started I barely slept trying to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything. I laid in bed going over and over lists in my head.

That first day was exciting and exhausting! In fact, the entire week was exhausting. But let me tell you this – it was incredibly rewarding! It was more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. The kids were great and excited to learn about road safety and improve their bicycle handling skills.

Their ages were 6 and 7 with one 10 year old. That 10 year old was a tremendous helper to me! The least experienced child had barely had his training wheels taken off his bike. We worked and went on practice rides. We had some crashes too. On Tuesday we had a visit from an IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) certified Mountain bike patroller. He held the kids attention as he described what his role is out on the trails of Sedona. On Thursday we had a personal trainer visit who taught us the “4 Pillars of Health”. Can you name them? I’ll help you out. They are: 1. Low stress. 2. Plenty of sleep. 3. Good nutrition, no junk! 4. Exercise.

On the last day, Friday, we had a bicycle adventure on the roads of Sedona! We rode 5.7 ┬ámiles round trip! I’m talking about 6 and 7 year olds! I am so very proud of all of them! What an amazing group of children.

The thing that I could not have predicted was just how much I would fall in love with these little ones! They were a blessing to ME!

I’m going to encourage each and every one of you to do something outside the box, no matter what it might be. Be courage2016-05-30 12.53.25ous, be bold and never say “I can’t”!2016-05-27 11.15.482016-05-27 09.07.08
